Riverport Post
Issue #4
Boat Cruise Was A SplashOur boat cruise on October 14th was “apparently” a big success. I say apparently because I was stuck in an airport and unable to attend. I want to thank all of the members that attended and hope you all had an opportunity to meet someone new. I especially want to thank Terri Samples for helping plan the event and thank Reed Boone and Matt Blincoe for filling in for me in my absence. I lastly want to thank the following companies for donating such great door prizes (Apparel Group, Ann Taylor, Holiday Inn Southwest, 1st Industrial, GSI, First Quality Musical Supplies, Guess, Multicorr, Premier Packaging, River City Distributing, Riverport Commerce Center, Riverport Authority and Stephen Gault Co.). Thanks for all of your help.
Riverport Business Association Adopts New Logo
The Riverport Business Association will now be know as RBA. Thanks to the creative effort of Waypoint Creative the RBA has undergone a new look our new tag is…Rba… The voice of Riverport, Jeff Dodd and Brian Heikel of Waypoint Creative designed not only the new logo, but also a very impressive brochure to help explain the focus of the association. I will try to get the new artwork up on the website so be looking for it. Thanks again to the folks at Waypoint.
RBA Meets With The Riverport Human Resource Group
I was very fortunate a couple of weeks ago to be invited in by the Riverport Human Resource Group to discuss their possible involvement with the RBA. The Human Resource Group has been around a couple of years and is composed of about 40 HR managers that get together monthly to discuss employee related issues. I was immediately impressed with their group and so I quickly suggested that their group become an arm of the RBA. Thanks to the members of that group and to Rick Meade from Multicorr who agreed to chair the committee. They will now operate in conjunction with the association. Rick will report on behalf of the group to the Board at our monthly board meetings.
Committee Updates
Safety Committee
Your Safety and Security Committee met on September 19, 2002 at the offices of Atlas Machine and Supply, Inc. The following issues were discussed:
- Kentucky Lighting Proposal for the Greenbelt Highway - the state has proposed to pay for the illumination of the following intersections along the Greenbelt Highway; Logistics Drive, Intermodal Drive, Distribution Drive, River Field Drive, Global Drive, and Winstead Drive. Currently this proposal has been submitted to L.G.&E. for installation/placement design and cost estimates. It is expected that this process will be completed in the very near future and we are hopeful to have the installation completed by the end of this year.
- An issue regarding the proper marking of the turn/deceleration lane at Logistics Drive has been addressed and completed by the State Highway Department.
- Captain Terri Winstead, David District Commander, Jefferson County Police, reported that a computer-aided crime analysis program has recently been activated for the David District. Statistical data is gathered for all crime occurring in the District and can be broken down as to the time of day, type of crime, area’s of occurrence and more. The police officers obtain daily reports from this system helping them identify trends and areas in need of increased surveillance. Remember to report all crime, thefts and /or vandalism that occurs in Riverport to the David District office of the Jefferson County Police by dialing 933-2131 for non -emergency incidents and of course, 9-1-1 for emergency assistance.
